Everyone has “THE” high concept for a movie. If that’s true, why are there so many mediocre movies being made today in Hollywood. I was recently having a discussion with some friends about how long it has been since we were able to open up the movie section of the newspaper and have a real dilemma about which movie to go and see. Instead, we open the movie section and cannot find a movie that even peaks our interest enough to want get up off the couch. And today, with 300 cable channels at our fingertips, along with videogames and the internet, it makes it even harder to find a reason to leave the house and go down to the local theater.
However there is something about sitting in the movie theater with your fresh box of popcorn and waiting for the lights to go down, that cannot be recreated on the couch. Recreating that feeling of the anticipation of seeing something great is what I want to achieve with American Star.

I want American Star to be a movie that will bring back those feelings of what it was like to be alive in the 1970’s. I believe there is a huge audience of 40 to 60 year old boomers that will identify with not only this movie, but also the amazing soundtrack of 70’s rock. This is a “High Concept” that has not been created since a movie like The Big Chill. The music soundtrack is huge part of this movie.

Beyond an amazing original score, below is the soundtrack list for American Star.
Celebration Day Led Zeppelin
You Can’t Always Get What You Want The Rolling Stones
Black Maria Todd Rundgren
Can’t Get It Out Of My Head Electric light Orchestra
College The James Gang

Time Of The Season The Zombies
Long Cool Woman The Hollies
Like A Natural Woman Aretha Franklin
American Girl Tom Petty
Hope I’m Around Todd Rundgren

American Star Screenplay is finished!

One boy’s journey to the top and back. This is the story of one boy’s rise to Rock Stardom and his realization that all the money and fame in the world does not guarantee true happiness.
In 1973 a boy had a dream of becoming a “Rockstar”. American Star is the story of this boy’s journey from a High School Talent Show to the top of the entertainment industry. There was never a better time to be a Rockstar than the 1970’s. It was a time when the term “Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll” was still politically correct. All the infamous tales of rock in the 70’s become a reality for this loner kid from the Midwest, but the real story is about how he finds that fame and fortune doesn’t provide automatic true happiness and his journey to then discover what does.
The script is finally finished and we are currrently seeking investors to help us make this GREAT movie!
